Tu Bishvat, the Jewish Birthday of the Trees, is a prime opportunity to celebrate and enjoy the fruits of nature, and reexamine our relationships to the land. Jesse of Jesse’s Tea House will demonstrate how to brew and drink the specialty teas he imports from China — and then we’ll get to sipping and noshing on the traditional fruits and nuts of Tu Bishvat, accompanied by beautiful klezmer-old time fusion music by The Goldfinch Project — made up of Chloe Resler and Zane Johnson.
We’ll also have talks from the three Der Nister rabbis about A.D. Gordon’s philosophy of nature and its relationship to Israeli culture, a Yiddish essay about Tu Bishvat (or as it’s known in Yiddish, khomishoser) in Southern California, and American Jewish efforts to do agriculture over the years.
You won’t want to miss this unique Tu Bishvat experience. We look forward to seeing you at the party!
Tickets are $10. Thursday, February 13th at 6 pm. Register here.
